How To Make Your Kids Feel Special

There’s a good article on babycenter.com right now about how to make your child feel special. You can read it here. And I’m not just saying that it’s good because I’m quoted in the “Ask for help” section. Although, of course, a quote from me is a sure sign of quality. Or possibly a sign of a lazy journalist. Hard to tell.

Anyway, I really liked some of the suggestions, like making a movie with your kids. My kids are both natural hams, but usually we just film them in their natural habitats, doing what they do. It never occurred to me to guide them through the entire process of making a movie, from writing the script to shooting to editing and then having a screening for family and friends.

Tomorrow begins three weeks of being home with my kids before school starts. Making a movie sounds like a perfect project to work on, a little every day so that they don’t get sick of it. I also liked the suggestions in the “Break the rules” section. I don’t think there will ever be a better time to break the rules than when both kids are home for days and days! It just may keep me sane.

Whoa–a film–you are one ambitious mama. Would love to see the end result!

Oh, and breaking the rules is KEY. . .I’ve been breaking a lot of them while my daughter is at sleepaway camp and it’s just me and my son. I think it’s helped him with the loneliness. I highly recommend it.
