Product Giveaway: Help For Toddler Eating

This week I’m giving away two prizes that I think go well together.  I was given both of these items this summer at the BlogHer convention in San Francisco.  The first is called Snacker Tracker.  It’s a nutritional tracking system for kids 2-8 years old.  It’s a dry-erase fridge magnet that guides your child through a day of eating.  It comes with a dry-erase marker and a nutritional guide for parents, and is a $20 value.  And if you have more than one child, you can buy an extra magnet from their website without having to buy the whole package a second time (because you really only need one marker and nutritional guide).

My philosophy has always been that the more decisions I can put into my kids’ hands, the better.  It teaches them to weigh pros and cons and think about consequences.  And more importantly, it allows me to deflect a lot of the annoying questions that my kids bug me with – or try to, anyway.  My son has been getting an allowance in some form or another since he was two, and has been learning about delaying what he wants until he can pay for it.  Right now he’s saving up for a drum set.  When he starts doing the “Mommy Mommy buy this for me!” show, I can just tell him to count his money and make the decision for himself.

But I digress.  I believe that if you totally control what your children eat, then they’ll go crazy whenever you’re not around to control them.  (This has been a source of contention between The Ass and me for a while now, but that’s a post unto itself.)  The Snacker Tracker looks like a great way to put some of the control in their hands, which they will love.

The second item is called Mommy Rescue Guide: Toddler Meals.  It’s a little cookbook chock full of easy recipes that your kids will love and you will love to make, because they’re on the simple side.  I’ve been flipping through this book and am soooo tempted to keep it, but for one thing I no longer have a toddler and for another, that would be selfish.  And I’m trying not to be.  This book is a $10 value.

And I’ll throw in a cute red Scholastic bag that’s great for carrying books, groceries, toys, or whatever you need to carry.

To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on this entry with your child’s favorite food.  I’ll start us off: Pasta Boy’s is favorite food is, uh, pasta!  And Munchkin likes pretty much any kind of fruit.

Please feel free to comment as many times as you like, but only one comment per person will count for the drawing. Winner will be chosen by Random.org. Prize can be shipped only to the United States, Canada, or Mexico. The contest will end at noon (Eastern) on Tuesday, September 9th.

Good luck!

Fun contest! My daughter’s current favorite food is pancakes! We have to make a special version because she is allergic to milk and eggs, but the entire family agrees they are actually quite yummy.

My little guy’s favourite food is not at all healthy for him, ice cream is demanded for all the time! I usually use it as a bribe to get him to eat healthier things first… As for things he should be eating, his favourite is broccolli (or baby trees as he refers to it), he loves the idea of tearing into a forest.
