Arrrrrr! That be the voice of Dirty Anne Cash

OK, I don’t know what it is about pirates. Maybe it’s the SpongeBob connection. Maybe it’s Johnny Depp with dirty teeth and heavy eye make-up. Maybe it’s my innate desire to be free of responsibilities and showers. But pirates are fascinating. So I’m embarrassed that I was unaware that today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day!  I found this out while reading one of my favorite blogs, Polybloggimous, the rantings and musings of a highly entertaining Brooklyn guy who happens to work in the entertainment industry, as a location manager.  And his site pointed me to one that quizzed me on everything from my hygiene habits to my love of parrots.  After the quiz it gave me my pirate name and a little bio:

Dirty Anne Cash

You’re the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean — not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. You’re musical, and you’ve got a certain style if not flair. You’ll do just fine. Arr!

If you’d like to get your own pirate name, go here:  Feel free to tell us in the comment section what your pirate name is!  But if ye not be writin’ it in pirate speak, ye be walkin’ the virtual plank, matey!

I can’t talk in pirate speak, because frankly, pirates creep me out! But I took the quiz cause I’m here @ work, my bosses aren’t around, & I can do whatever time waster I want! Here ya go:

Even though there’s no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you’re the one in charge. Even though you’re not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!

Dammed if it didn’t hit the nail on the head.

A pirate’s life isn’t easy; it takes a tough person. That’s okay with you, though, since you’re a tough person. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate’s life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr!
