Central Park Boathouse, Kelly Ripa style
Jun 8, 2009 What's Going On
One of my absolute favorite TV people, Kelly Ripa, is at the boathouse in Central Park, doing a photo opp and some interviews for a great fundraiser with Electrolux supporting ovarian cancer research, a virtual lemonade stand. I’m sitting here waiting for my turn to interview her, wondering what to talk about. I’ll probably only have about five minutes, they said her schedule is really tight.
The paparazzi are cracking me up. They’ve rented a couple of boats and are jockeying for position. Kelly is being very accommodating, turning to pose for them, waving at them, and of course making some jokes at their expense. How could she not? I guess when you live with it all the time, the only way to stay sane is to have a sense of humor about it.

I love Kelly! I think she’s great – funny, self-deprecating, hard working and not at all pretentious.
Ironically, I was at the boathouse 3 weekends ago. It was my first time in CP in like 6 years lol PS – The burgers they have at the boathouse are surprisingly tasty and very non-greasy. They gave me 3 boats of fries (I asked for only 1) cause it was the end of the day.
@ab – Whenever I see her, I just want to quote Jack from Will & Grace, “‘Cause she’s Kelly, and she’s Ripa. She’s Kelly Ripa.” Complete with head bobbing back and forth. But she’d probably call someone over to escort me out.
@- E – Wait, I missed an opportunity for free fries? I must go back!
@Amy – On Sunday they stop serving food at the boathouse at 5:30ish – that’s when they either give away or dump the fries I found out
hehe
