He may in fact already "know". Every kid I know, these days, goes through a couple of years, abt. 8 to 11-ish, where they "know" but they don't SAY they know. I like how you let him kind of work it out on his own before offering him some answers. Now at least you know that he's beginning to think about how it all works.
