@c2cmom - I know, it's like sitting in first class and then having to go back to coach! Almost makes you with you had never sampled first class. I do not usually use dried beans, I'm thinking I should try using them.

I completely understand and savor cooking the same way! Once you’ve had the space, time and resources to do it the way you want, it can be torture making do with other tools, smaller/darker spaces, etc. We were spoiled in our previous kitchen and I cooked nearly every day! This one, not so much. It’s become a chore, so I’m incredibly envious of your new kitchen.

Have you made chili or soup “from scratch” with dried beans? Another opp to extend the simmering process on the stove…

God! That was post was so sweet it almost made me cry! I too have stopped cooking as much as I used to. Only my excuse is having a chef for a wife. She loves when I cook and although I know that nothing I make even comes close to the meals she has cooked for me, she always appreciates them and thinks it’s cute when I get frustrated or burn things. Best of all, I like to give her a break. Everyone thinks that when your spouse is a chef you eat great all the time…well that is sort of true…YOU EAT OUT A LOT!! Chefs don’t want to cook all the time. They do it all day long and when they come home,sometimes all they want to do is veg on the couch and have someone burn something, I MEAN cook something for them…When I cook for her, I make sure to give her LOTS of wine first!
