What I can tell you about running is 1) practice practice practice….it does get easier the more you do it. 2) you will hit a wall…I usually hit it at about 1 and 1/2 miles…you feel like your going to die but if you can push yourself past it you will be surprised that its easier past that point.

I agree with Cara. When I was an avid runner at my height I ran a half marathon…now granted I was like 19 maybe 20 years old maybe…But the key is to keep going and DON’T walk. Once you walk it is so hard to run again for any long period of time. You WILL hit a wall at about the 1.5 mile, but push through it. There is usually a lot of encouragement as well from people on the side lines. I am really proud of you!!! Oh, and at the end of my first 5K I came VERY close to throwing up…so be prepared!!!

Thank you Cara, that was helpful. But Una, stop scaring me! The only way to get me to do this is to tell me that at the end I will feel like I just spent a day at the spa. Lie to me.
