Introducing Disney Junior, plus a giveaway!

UPDATE: This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to the winner, Katrina!

This post is a sponsored post in conjunction with the BabyCenter Blog Network.

Jake and the Never Land Pirates logo from Disney JuniorSo I’m sure this would be a difficult way to market to every single kid in the country, but my son Jake is quite excited that Disney is about to debut a new show named after him: Jake and the Never Land Pirates. It’s part of something new from The Disney Channel: on Monday, February 14th Playhouse Disney will become Disney Junior!

You can see some video previews of the new Disney Junior here. Disney Junior is made for kids 2-7 and will have a lot of the familiar content from Playhouse Disney, but will also feature several new shows, like Babar and the Adventures of Badou, about Babar’s eight-year-old grandson, and Tinga Tinga Tales, based on traditional African animal folktales.

They’ll also have a bunch of new short series, like Mouskersize, Handy Manny’s School for Tools, and A Poem Is… This last one was my favorite of everything that I got to take a sneak peak at. Each mini episode of A Poem Is… is narrated by Katie Holmes or Jennifer garner, and while they read, appropriate scenes from classic Disney movies are shown. It’s really sweet.

I just watched a preview episode of Jake and the Never Land Pirates, and it’s very cute. It’s an adventure series about three kids, Jake, Izzy and Cubby (thanks for that little bit of Mickey Mouse Club nostalgia, Disney!) who look for treasure while trying to outfox Captain Hook. It gives kids plenty of opportunities to talk back to the TV, great training for later in life when they’re watching sports. My favorite part, though, would be the Never Land Pirate Band, a couple of doofuses (doofi?) who crack me up.

Disney Junior Prize PackThere’s a preview site for Jake and the Never Land Pirates right now that has a bunch of funny music videos, an introduction to the characters, and some games that kids can play. The full site will be coming when the show debuts, which is at 8:30am on Monday, February 14th. To celebrate, I’m giving away a prize pack full of Jake and the Never Land Pirates stuff, including a Disney Junior journal, a water bottle, a tumbler, a Jake and the Never Land Pirates t-shirt, stickers and tattoos.

To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me something you love about Disney.

We have been watching the Disney Junior preview OnDemand non-stop since last week. Bunny is so excited about Jake & the Neverland Pirates and I love seeing classic characters like Captain Hook brought back to life. Tinga Tinga Tales is going to be a new favorite as well.

I love Disney because he keeps enough of the old to be a little nostalgic. Disney was alive when i was a kid and i got to watch the original Mickey Mouse Club.

I love the way Disney keeps the old fresh by reintroducing it to new generations and incorporates it across media – TV, movies, parks, etc.. I downloaded the iTunes episode of Jake & the Neverland Pirates last night & my 5 year old has already watched it 3 times today.

NO WAY!! My little guy has been talking about this show since the commercials started!!

What I love about Disney? The Disney Channel. I don’t have to worry about what my little man is watching when I have that channel on :)

I know my Grandson would absolutely love this prize and the fact that I grew up watching Wonderful World of Disney every Sunday night, I know he would be involved with something that is non-violent and good for a 5-7 year old. My sister was on the Mickey Mouse Club once when I was very little and I remember that to this day. The fact that they are always coming out with something new and fun for children keeps our Children and Grandchildren happy and away from all the violence in the world today.
Thank you for letting me have my say and I really hope I can win this for my Grandson who lives in AZ and I live in NY so what a great gift this would be for him from me. P.S. Haven’t seen him in over a year and I know he would love it.

A comercial just came on for Jake, it looks so cute. What I love about Disney is that they let kids be kids. I think the world we live in pushes our kids to grow up so fast. I love that Disney is all about enjoy childlike qualites like imagination, playing, and fun. Thanks for the great giveaway!
