Randomosity: The Talk, diapers, new clothes, & more

Watch your step, I’m about to drop a lot of names

In the past two days I’ve had the pleasure of spending time with Ellen Pompeo (to promote Huggies’ Every Little Bottom charity diaper drives), Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini and Marissa Jaret Winokur (to talk about their new CBS talk show The Talk, premiering October 18th).  Now I just have to find the time to write it all up!

Here are a couple of pictures in the meantime: Ellen Pompeo at Babies R Us, and the stars of The Talk .

Don’t let frump happen to you

For years now, as I’ve been trying to lose weight, I’ve had an unwritten, barely acknowledged policy of buying clothes only when I had absolutely nothing to wear and risked showing up at a social event or meeting either naked or in sweats.  And when I did actually go shopping, I would scour the clearance rack and only get whatever was really cheap and fit me, whether it suited me or not.  My rational was that if I spent real money on clothes, I’d have a big disincentive to losing weight.  This policy has resulted in a closet packed with clothes that either don’t fit or look terrible.  I’m officially declaring this policy stupid and useless.

I went shopping yesterday and bought several nice dresses.  I generally hate wearing dresses for several reasons: my legs are fat, I have to shave, I have to wear pantyhose (trust me), and I spend the whole day thinking about how to sit.  However, since I am trying to lose weight, I think that dresses will be the most forgiving if I drop a few pounds.  But at 37 years old, why do I still feel like I’m playing dress-up when I put on a dress and heels?

Retro cake

I went to a great birthday party tonight – cool people, great 80s & 90s music, and the coolest birthday cake I’ve ever seen.  Happy birthday Dan!
